Clinton and Boris Yeltsin
In page 506 of the paperback edition of Bill Clinton's My Life he describes the vigorous debate he and his foreign policy team had in deciding how to react to a brave speech Boris Yeltsin had just made announcing a public referendum to determine whether he or the parliament (Duma) should run the country. Most of Clinton's advisors cautioned restraint. But Clinton pulled all stops in helping President Yeltsin.
